Can’t wait to read your book! My husband is a scientist who works on electrochemical solutions for addressing climate change, and I am an historian who loved Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books as a child (and am about to start rereading them with my son this summer).
What a perfect nexus! I'm excited to be getting this close to getting it out to the world! Sounds like there will be something in it for both of you (and probably your son, too)!
Thank you! Luckily, my debut novel came out two weeks ago, and edits for my second novel came back last week...so lots of other things to occupy my time/mind!
Don't know if staff work counts as a nonfiction project, but I write (and create video) for ZERO TO THREE, a non-profit dedicated to the well-being of infants, toddlers, and their families. Most recently, I've written a print toolkit for teachers on Mindfulness for Early Childhood Educators, and a 90-minute professional development "experience" (includes videos, PPT, and a lesson plan) introducing organizations to the needs of kin caregivers: Grandfamilies 101.
Yes! I'm super new to substack and I'm still learning what it's all about. I have a new Taylor Swift substack. But I am planning to start one about genealogy that will have more longevity.
I'm new here. Still promoting my second nonfiction book (published January 2024), but percolating on an outline for the next one. I feel like it may be too soon, but's bubbling. I've learned to listen to the bubbles.
I'm in this camp, too! I'm writing a speculative memoir about my ineffable connection with my husband's late wife (and her writing) ... and it's S-L-O-W going so far. I'm hoping to dial down the paying work and pick up the pace on the memoir over the summer.
I am! Making revisions to my second adult nonfiction book with a January 2025 pub date, and revising my first children's nonfiction that hasn't found a publisher yet
Rushing first draft to completion - deadline to publisher is July 1!
Your podcast is coming up!!!! How exciting for you that you're deep in the work!
Yay! And yes, one more bit of motivation to meet that deadline!

My new nonfiction project (sports) goes out on submission this week!
Wow!! Huge congrats on the milestone and 🤞🤞🤞
We're pulling for you!

Me! Thanks to Sara Gentry's help I'm finalizing my proposal to send out to some agents (eek!)
Sara Gentry is amazing! Yay!
Omg oooooooo good luck! Your topic is so in the zeitgeist!
I'm writing a book about editing for writers, based on my 25+ years experience.
We need all the editing books -- so exciting!
Thanks much.
Me! I am working on a memoir and some flash CNF pieces.
Trying to finish up chapter 3 (of 15) of my first book. I would never have come this far (including getting the agent I did) without this podcast.
Thank you for saying that and amazing! You’re doing the work!
This month and, it seems, every month!
Nonfiction manuscript due in 11 months, and I'm also pitching articles and working on my newsletter.
Present.
Finished chapter summaries and final polish to manuscript before submission.
Good stage to be at for sure!
I'm working on the third book in my nonfiction picture book series!
Nice to meet another children's nonfiction writer here!

Me :D I actually just read through your proposal Jess to get my head around one day writing my own... So helpful to see
I’m working on a book for parents who are estranged from their families of origin, putting together the final draft now.
Good luck!

It sounds so interesting.
